The firm has a long-established and varied civil practice tradition. The practice areas include dissolution of marriage, child custody and support, maintenance, post-marital dissolution matters, guardianships, conservatorships and adoption, including termination of parental rights.
Other areas include complete estate planning services for younger couples and their families to planning for more elderly clients. The firm has years of experience drafting wills and trusts to meet clients’ particular circumstances, from simple wills with minors’ trusts for smaller estates to more complicated wills and trusts for larger estates. The firm discusses with its estate planning clients the various components of a complete estate plan which include powers of attorney, living wills, beneficiary deeds and other non probate transfer mechanisms. Finally, the firm has a robust probate practice for those estates where such services are required. It also handles estate and trust litigation matters.
In addition, the firm handles a multitude of real estate matters, from drafting contracts, promissory notes and deeds of trust or other mortgage instruments and releases, to negotiating and litigating boundary and fence-line issues and other quiet title matters, easements, road rights-of—way, and landlord/tenant matters, including evictions for landlords. The firm also handles platting, zoning and subdivision matters before planning commissions and city councils or county boards of commissioners, and it interfaces with CDOT on highway access issues.
